Long, long time ago, at a legendary place called The Bass Centre, I got to try a visiting New Yorker's Sonus V fretless. It was a beautiful bass, and it played like a dream. Ever since then, that was the dream fretless I wanted.
Many years later, Zon came out with a Sonus which uses the Lightwave optical pickup system for more accurate sound. Geekdom and fine craftsmanship, all rolled into one. LA Bass Exchange had one in stock and after trying it out, I couldn't help but buy it. Here it is:
