I've tried a ton of basses and I'm glad I finally got to try
a Modulus. I was totally blown away by the tone and feel of it,
so I couldn't stop myself from buying it.
This is the famed Modulus
blue/purple burst coloring over a figured maple top. It's somewhat
quilted, but looks best in the sunlight. It comes with EMGs with
the BTC electronics (stacked bass/treble, volume, and pickup pan).
It now has D'Addario XL5 strings on it, which I'm quite happy
with. I've also upgraded the BTC circuit to 18 Volts.
I later had it fitted with imbedded Straplocks.
(7/17/97) I've finally got a set of D'Addario Slowounds on it.
They sound at least as good as the XL5's. They feel good and are
very responsive. Now the test will be to see how well they last.
(3/4/98) The Slowounds have really been wonderful, so I have a
spare set on hand for the next time I want to change them. I've
also gotten a recent fretjob done by Joel Grant in Fountain Valley,
CA. Joel did a wonderful job and charged me a bargain of a price.
